Should a dog owner get a new pet right after the other has passed on?

II think the dog owner needs time to adjust to not having their favourite pet. They need time to adjust to a new routine and to see if they really want a new pet, or what kind or if they are capable of looking after another pet whether be a puppy or a older dog.
They are very emotional at this time to be able to think clearly and wisely to look at the situation logically.
